The state government on Wednesday decided to bring government employees on par with more than 50,000 employees of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd, Gujarat Water Supply and Sewerage Board and Gujarat Water Resources Development Corporation who get all the benefits of the seventh pay commission.
Deputy chief minister Nitin Patel said that the 50,000 employees will get (from August 1) the new salaries with arrears accor ding to the norms decided by the state government.
As a result, employees who were getting Rs 1,15,000 as salary will get Rs 19,950, the deputy chief minister said. He further said that the decision to increase the salary of the vidya sahayaks was taken after the state government got several representations from the association of the sahayaks.
Patel further said that because of the hike in salaries, the state government will have to bear an additional financial burden of Rs 205 crore. The deputy chief minister said that the hike will be effective with retrospective effect and implemented from Febraury this year.
The August salary will be according to the revised salary structure while arrears will be paid to the employees according to the norms fixed for other employees of the state government.
